Storing and Serving Tips
Our dog cakes are made-to-order. When storing and serving your dog’s cake, you'll want to keep it fresh and safe for your beloved pup. Here are a few helpful tips for you:
Short-Term Storage (1-3 Days):
-
Refrigeration:
-
Store the meat cake in an airtight container or wrap it tightly in plastic wrap or aluminum foil.
-
Keep it in the fridge at 35°F–40°F (1.6°C–4.4°C). If your fridge is extremely cold, icing may crack.
-
It should stay good for up to 3 days in the fridge. (See below for additional info)
-
-
Serving Suggestions:
-
Prior to serving, you may allow the cake to soften at room temperature for a short period of time (typically 45-60 minutes) if desired.
-
We suggest slicing the cake the same way you would slice a pie (or slice any round shape, like pizza, etc.)
-
Please Note: For our freshly made cakes with potato/yogurt frosting, the decoratively piped areas may begin to lose shape after 12 hrs of refrigeration. Therefore, we highly suggest serving our made-to-order cakes within 12 hours of pick-up.
-
Long-Term Storage (1-3 Months):
-
Freezing:
-
If you want to store your dog cake for a longer period, freezing is your best bet.
-
Slice the cake into portions (like you would slice a pizza) to make thawing easier.
-
Wrap each slice in plastic wrap and place it in a freezer-safe bag or airtight container.
-
Label it with the date so you know when it was frozen.
-
It can last for 1-3 months in the freezer.
-
Thawing from Frozen:
-
In the fridge:
-
For safe thawing, move the cake slices from the freezer to the fridge about 24 hours before serving it to your pup.
-
To avoid spoilage, do NOT thaw directly from frozen at room temperature.
